Children’s Book
I Am Me
I wrote this book to spread the word to all children, teens, and adults that we are lovable just as we are, and we do not have to be something we are not to gain love and acceptance in this world. This core belief in society that we are not good enough just as we are, often leads to self-sabotage. Feelings of unworthiness can manifest as mental illness, addiction, disease, suicidal thoughts, and even a deep dislike for oneself and life.
In a world where the flood of influences, ideals, and expectations overwhelm us, it can be difficult to find our true selves. In my book I AM ME, I pose an essential question to each of us:
Are you living your life or merely a reflection of what others expect you to be?
It can be difficult to recognize at first, but many of us are giving ourselves away to conformity. Although some argue that conformity is necessary for society to function, Some see it as a life sentence to individuality.
My journey, as narrated in my book, I AM ME, is an outcome of my triumphs against societal molds and personal doubts. It is a sentimental reflection of what many of us experience yet rarely voice.
From a very young age, we absorb messages from society, family, peers, media, about how we “should” think, behave, dress, and pursue certain goals and life paths. These external expectations and pressures can cause us to lose touch with our authentic selves – our true interests, values, and ways of expressing our individuality.
My work is a powerful reminder to peel back those learned layers of conformity and rediscover the parts of ourselves that may have been suppressed or stifled by societal “shoulds.”
